PROJECTS

The Pinned Present

Having the ability to print intaglio on a micro scale and with complete portability!  I am beginning to explore the possibilities of this sweet little press of mine.

My current project for 2021 is exploring and cataloging the various flora & fauna found in our surrounding environment. Through various forms of printmaking from relief, intaglio and monoprinting I will also be utilizing the portability of my mini press (Open Press Project). This project is inspired by nature and in response to our current pandemic. I would like to make printmaking more accessible through working with eco friendly materials, like handmade papers and soy based inks, as well as working in miniature with a portable press.

With an interest in plants, animals and minerals I'd like to explore their natural shape and design as well as their current habitat they reside in.  My project will showcase my thought process and development along the way.  The outcome will help to educated and inspire others to take a closer look at the world around us.  Hopefully impart on our collective experience to take in all moments through close looking and observations.

My initial focus will be on the grounds and gardens at the Ringling Museum of Art.  Rich with native flora & fauna the museum is a level 2 arboretum.

The John & Mable Ringling Museum of Art has formed the iconic backdrop to Sarasota's rich art community. Designated as the official state art museum of Florida, it was established in 1927 as the legacy of Mable Ringling and her love of the arts.

The museum's collection currently consists of more than 10,000 objects that include a variety of paintings, sculpture, glass works, drawings, prints, photographs and decorative arts from ancient times through contemporary periods.
